Upcoming Artaria Concert REMINDER: Our final Sundin Hall Series Concert of the 2006-2007 season takes place on April 22nd. The concert begins at 4pm and will feature music by Bridge, Prokofiev and Brahms. Our guest for the afternoon has changed! Rochester clarinetist, David Townsend, will join Artaria in the lovely Brahms Quintet for Clarinet and Strings. As always, join us for light refreshments afterwards.
This concert will be the last for our delightful friend and superb cellist Anna Clift. After a brief two-year stint she will be "retiring" to tend to her family and staying closer to home in Northfield. We will miss her in the ensemble and we hope you will also convey to her how important an addition she has been to Artaria these past few years. We will keep you posted on our newest member in the next email installment.
Two ACMS quartets will perform at the PantagesTheatre this weekend, April 20, 21 and 22 as part of the Minnesota Dance Theatre and the Dance Institute's Spring Play-in. String Theory (Meredith Vaughan, Vince Lonergan in absentia, Carly Blazing and Nathaniel Swanson) and the Fiesztengh Quartet (Ashley Ng, Emily Vold, Deanna Anderson, and Jon McDuffie) will perform the world premiere of "Strange Attractor" composed by Shirley Mier especially for the company. The American Composers Forum and Robert and Katherine Goodale have generously supported the commission with choreography by Penelope Freeh of the James Sewell Ballet and Wynn Fricke, MDT resident choreographer. Performances are at 8pm on Friday and Saturday, and at 2pm on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased through ticketmaster.com or by calling 612-673-0404. >>Six ACMS quartets played beautifully and earned prize money in the 2007 RCMS Young Artist Competition held in March.
