Young ACMS group plays on From the Top It may be cold outside, but Artaria enjoyed heating up Sundin Hall with new friend and brilliant guitarist, Alieksay Vianna. The program was a kaleidoscope of rhythmic energy starting with the knotty and electric rotating meter of composer Ralph Towner’s "Migration". This 15 minute work was a challenge to learn and thrilling to play. Next on the program was Cuban composer Leo Brouwer's Quintet for Guitar & Strings. The encore was a delightful Irish dance movement from guitarist/composer Julio Assad's Five World Dances. Artaria enjoyed every minute collaborating with the Brazilian virtuoso and plan to meet up again (maybe in Brazil?) to play more of this colorful and intriguing music.
