CHAMBER MUSIC AMERICA RESIDENCY In Summer 2011 the ASQ received word that we had received a prestigious Chamber Music America Residency Partnership Program Award. We are delighted to begin our work with music students in Dawson, Minnesota. Artaria's 2011-2012 CMA Residency is all about chamber music immersion. Our mission is to perform for and work with students young and 'not as young' in the understanding and better appreciation for classical music. Day 1 – Monday, November 14, 2011 On Day one we begin with a refreshing encounter with K-6 school children. Our goal here is to get them excited about music and introduce them to the string family. We then begin working on chamber music with pre-formed student string quartets at the high school. Following the lunch break we perform a small concert for all the string students in anticipation of our techniques class that we will hold the next morning. During the dinner hour we perform a lecture-concert at the Dawson public library. The evening wraps up with a festive adult ensemble practice at the childhood home of Claire Givens. Day 2 – Tuesday, November 15, 2011 Day Two is primarily filled with Junior and Senior High technique sessions and quartet coachings at the Dawson High School where several string students are preparing to go to State as part of the football team! We will return to Dawson in March for more coachings, more concerts and more fun with Gnomes!
